Risk Reduction Course (DUI)

 

5. What is the DUI Risk Reduction Course?
The DUI Risk Reduction Course is a state-mandated program for individuals who have received a DUI, drug, or underage possession charge. It consists of an assessment and a 20-hour in-person class.

6. How long is the DUI class?
The course is 20 hours long and is typically completed over a 2.5-day period, with sessions on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

7. Is the DUI class required to reinstate my license?
Yes, the DUI Risk Reduction Course is required for license reinstatement if you have been charged with a DUI in Georgia.

8. How much does the DUI course cost?
The cost is set by the state of Georgia at $360, which includes the assessment and classroom instruction.

You’ll need to bring a valid ID, a pen and notebook for notes, and payment if you haven’t prepaid online.

Defensive Driving Course (DDC)

 

10. What is the Defensive Driving Course?
The Defensive Driving Course is a 6-hour program that teaches safe driving techniques to help reduce accidents and violations. It is often taken voluntarily to lower insurance rates or satisfy court requirements.

11. Can I take the Defensive Driving Course to reduce points on my license?
Yes! Completing the course can reduce up to 7 points from your Georgia driving record.

12. Will this course lower my car insurance?
Many insurance companies offer discounts of up to 10% for drivers who complete a defensive driving course. Check with your provider for eligibility.
